And The Winner Is

Not Me, But Its Okay!

Rumschpringe finished up last Saturday at the Seventh Sister and I was there for opening night. There were quite a wide range of films being shown and most were very entertaining and well worth the $9 admission. As for my film, it received great reception from the audience, but unfortunately didn’t win in any category. A very well done animation entitled “American Terror: Company Man” shared the grand prize with the “Green Fans” documentary. It wasn’t all a bad weekend, however, as I was informed that my film won the Vox Populi award, or the popular vote. Good to know people actually enjoyed my film and now you guys can enjoy the film as well because its back online!

Rumschpringe This Weekend

Buy Tickets! Support Mature for his Age and Other Local Films

{title}

Looking for something to do this weekend? How about attending a film festival happening right here in Lancaster? My film, Mature for his Age, will be showing so for any of you who missed the limited online release, this is your chance to see my brother half naked in a bath tub. Along with my film, there will be thirteen other entries including two from fellow high school filmmakers. Other shorts in the impressive canon include the interestingly title, ‘Master Debaters,’ hopefully a short about talented arguers and not something more Dali-esque, a preview of the documentary ‘Green Fans,’ exploring the overwhelming obsessiveness of Eagles fans, and a seemingly very enlightening animation entitled ‘Robot Monkey Safari,’ as well as many more. Come to one of the many showings this weekend at the Seventh Sister Theater and I promise you’ll enjoy yourself. Buy tickets at Rumschpringe online to reserve seats.

Second Time Losing to Lightsabers

But At Least I'm A Good Writer

Yesterday was the Derek Freese Film Festival at Temple University and my film Mature for his Age was an official selection. Of course the $500 prize got me excited and I was looking forward to paying off my tires. The festival began and entries ranged from three minute music videos with girls frolicking with hay and horses to 10 second crude blossoming rose animations. Very few films stood out to me and I was quite confident I’d be taking first prize. But of course, I was beaten by a video about how sad dead people are in third place, a black and white biopic of a lightsabered “Admiral Awesome” cluttered with creative cow tutorials in second, and of course a teen drama that wasn’t actually a film at all winning grand prize. Upon receiving my Honorable Mention certificate, I was told, “You’re a great writer, Nik, keep it up.” Thanks, I’ll be sure to include teenagers killing dads with lightsabers next time. Hopefully Mature does better at Rumschpringe, tickets are on sale now online!

We Are Gonna Win The Demo

Barney's Butter / Artick Skateboards Demo This Sunday

{title}

This Sunday, March 8th, Barney’s Butter and Artick Skateboards will be hosting a demo at Underwood Skatepark. I’ll be there, probably filming, or eating. There will be a best trick contest and a product toss. A perfect opportunity to grab yourself some quality wax so you can 360 flip lipslide the gnarliest rail and find a chill girl. So if you wanna have a good time, drive yourself down to Underwood and enjoy yourself.

Some Changes Need To Be Made

Release of Mature For His Age Needs Adjusting

{title}

UPDATE: Due to some unfortunate technical difficulties, the film wasn’t online at midnight. Because of this, I will extend the viewing period until midnight tomorrow.

Don’t worry! You’ll still get to see the movie, but I will have to shorten the viewing period from three days to one because of some changes of the film festival I’m entering. So from midnight tonight to midnight tomorrow, Mature For His Age will be online for your viewing pleasure. So tell all your friends before its too late. If you are unfortunate enough to miss the film tomorrow you’ll get to see it still… eventually. The film will be ‘officially’ premiering on April 9th at the Rumschpringe Film Festival at the Stahr Performing Arts Center. I expect all of you to attend. There will be thirteen other films along with mine so it should be quite the evening.
